How to get started
Exchange Students
If you wish to study at HSE University as an exchange student, you should be nominated for exchange by your home university. Please check if your university has a cooperation agreement with HSE University and contact the international office of your home university for more information on how to apply for exchange.
Selection criteria are established by your home university.

After your nomination was submitted to HSE University by your home university, Student International Mobility Offiice (SIMO) will provide you with information on the application process by email.
Visiting Students
If you can't or don't want to be nominated by your home university you may join us as a participant of our fee-based Semester in Moscow program. Please check here for more information.
Short-term Events Participants
Every month, HSE University hosts thematic schools, language courses, Olympiads, intellectual competitions, conferences and many other short-term mobility events.
Please refer to the Research Visit page, if you are interested in visiting HSE University to write a research paper under the supervision of an HSE faculty member or carry out research in a laboratory.
Students themselves must cover all personal expenses, including:
flights
accommodation (in an HSE dormitory or independently rented housing)
meals
public transport
mandatory medical examination, photography and fingerprinting
any required medical treatment
purchase of a health insurance policy
textbooks and study materials
all other expenses
Where will I live?
HSE University guarantees all exchange and visiting students a place in one of its dormitories. The cost is approximately 3000 rubles per month. Accommodation is in rooms for 2–3 people, either all-female or all-male. To check in to the dormitory, students need a health certificate obtained before arriving in Moscow.
Alternatively, students are free to arrange other accommodation in the city.
What courses will I study?
There are no compulsory courses for exchange students at HSE University. The curriculum is compiled independently from the courses available to exchange students at HSE University, based on the requirements of the home university. Will I receive a scholarship at HSE University?
No, there is no scholarship. Please ask the international office of your home university for information on scholarships.
