Linguistics School Students’ Expedition to Guatemala
Elizaveta Vostokova and Alexandra Kozhukhar, students at the School of Linguistics, took part in the expedition to Guatemala in June 2016. The event was organized by the University of Maryland and was dedicated to research into the Kaqchikel Maya people. The expedition was led by Maria Polinsky, Professor of Linguistics, Omer Preminger, Assistant Professor in the Department of Linguistics, and  Pedro Mateo, Assistant Research Professor at the Maryland Language Science Center. During the first two weeks of the expedition, the participants studied the Kaqchikel language, the rest of the time they spent working with native speakers.

Exchange Students from Nice Visit HSE Faculty of Law

HSE Faculty of Law delivered a course on Jurisprudence for exchange students from the Nice Sophia Antipolis University as part of long-term ties between the universities. This was the first student exchange under the partnership agreement between the two universities. HSE plans to further develop this partnership programme.

‘ICEF Helped Me Realize Two of My Dreams’

Every year, the best achieving ICEF students are given the opportunity to go to the LSE Summer School in London. ICEF sponsored three students in 2015, and two students received a grant from LSE and ICEF. We asked LSE Summer School 2015 participants to tell us what helped them become best academic achievers and to share their impressions of the summer school and the city. It turned out that they have different life strategies, but they share a love of LSE library and the desire to learn and work hard.

HSE Students Presented University at Study Abroad Information Fair

On November 8th, 2015 the Study Abroad Information Fair was held at Tilburg University. Over 12,000 students from the Netherlands and all over the world took part in the event and learned about the opportunities for academic exchange in foreign universities. The organisers invited exchange students from Tilburg University to present their home universities at the fair and share their impressions and experience of studying and living in other countries.

HSE Student Completes an Internship at OECD

While studying for an MA in the Governance of Science, Technology, and Innovation at the Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge, students can put themselves forward for internships in leading innovative companies, state agencies, or international organizations.  This year, five candidates were shortlisted in preliminary selection rounds and Anastasia Trunina was the one chosen to do an internship at OECD. She has spoken to HSE News Service about the OECD Directorate for Science, Technology, and Innovation projects she was involved in this summer.

Alisa Maximova Is Doing an Internship at King's College London

Alisa Maximova, research intern of the Research Centre for Contemporary Culture, is visiting King’s College London as a part of her PhD programme at HSE. Her work in KCL is supervised by Dr. Dirk vom Lehn, coauthor of several papers on museum visitor interaction and participation, as well as author of the book “Harold Garfinkel: The Creation and Development of Ethnomethodology”. Alisa is a visiting PhD student in the Work, Interaction and Technology Research Centre in the Department of Management. Members of the Centre specialize in studying social interaction, role of technology and material objects in collaboration and conduct in offices, control centers, medical environment, museums.
